Yun to rakh sakta hoon shikwe main bahut magar-
Aasaa.n nahi khafa rehna, is jahaa.n khoobsoorati bhare mein

Kabhi laga ik pal mein maine dekhi saari kaarigari khuda ki
Dil kah utha mera- bhar aur na khushi mujh gubbaare mein

Leta hun sukoo.n ki saansen, jaane deta hun jaate lamhon ko
Bah jaate hain jaise baarish, karta hun unka shukriya main

Jaanta hoon ki tum aaj nahiin jaante meri baaton ka sabab
Jaan jaaoge tum bhi ek din zindagi ke safar mein.

[It is almost a translation of a movie dialogue. I really enjoyed this exercise.]

P.S.: If these lines make you feel you've heard them before, try digging up the name of the movie! Should be fun. I'll update this post with the original lines soon.

P.P.S.: The original lines (from 'American Beauty'):

I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst...
And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude.. for every single moment.. of my stupid little life...
You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday.

:) I know! I know! Towards the end of A.B., when K.S. is dying, he says these lines. But I must say, you've written them real real well here. Good idea, and real good work. I can tell you enjoyed it a lot. Amazing read!

Wonderfully well written .. you tempted me to watch A.B. .. just to know what the original lines were and how they sounded:)

Translation must be a tough job!

You were my best bet, you know :P :D
Thanks!
Those lines sound like poetry, And hence the idea..

Do watch. It's a wonderful movie.
Maybe mostly it is, but this attempt at it was fun, and refreshing.

Oh thanks! Next time make an actual bet and let's share the money :P

And the blogroll names you've written are very creative I must say, quite "wordenful" themself!

Your wonderful words have a certain burden soaked deep inside.. not visible on surface.. that is how I sometimes feel reading your blog :)

ooh-la-laa...even though AB is one of my favs and those lines run a shiver whenever i hear them i just could not guess...
and this going back and forth in languages is good and something new to me! may be i'll also give it a shot!

The guessing was rather difficult.. I thought only the second line (aasaan nahi...) could be a give-away. Further, I was trying to present it in form of unconnected couplets (like in traditional ghazal form), which brings in quite a deviation from the original.

Glad you liked the idea. Do give it a shot!

Couple of things happened which I couldn't resist but record here..

Thanks!

The characteristic posts of your blog go like- "Dream. Beach. Boy. Hairwash. Traffic. Sleep. Chocolate Fudge. Smug. Cubes. Vanishing Points..."- some unknown, some vaguely known thoughts.. of a thought pool.
And when you don't limit yourself to unconnected words, your posts are really 'thoughtful', and then the word 'pool' has a few letters of your name too.. just what I was looking for every link! :)

Matches your own perception of the 'why..'?
