It tried to be different.. couldn't do it any differently from others. Then it chose to be yet another face in the crowd; and soon, it realized it can make some difference.

It's so much an understatement. Vanity is a clown under indifference as tenderness is a mockery under a love it can't return.

Depends. Your case holds when vanity is about to lose it, hers when it's holding strong. Your case holds when the tenderness is fake, hers when it's genuine.
So if vanity and tenderness are at their 'best', your case won't hold!
